Totally Awesome

I don’t know how long I’ve been telling myself I need to post about xkcd. I don’t really remember how I first stumbled onto this web comic, but I’m pretty sure the first one I can remember was Guitar Hero. After seeing a few more on digg or elsewhere, I ended up subscribing to the RSS feed so I can continually enjoy the “webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.” His style fits my sense of humor perfectly. I even went through the archive and read from the beginning. My cube at work has about 5 comics posted already.

Anyway, the comic that finally got me to post blends together perfect references from one of my favorite games and one of my favorite childhood comic strips. How can you go wrong with Mario Kart and Calvin and Hobbes? Don’t forget to mouse over the images to read the alt text; if you’re initially confused, a lot of times this will help clear things up.

Magic Bullets

We saw Penn & Teller last night. At the end of the show they shot one another, but I have proof that they weren’t destroyed:

Penn and Amber

Teller & Carson

I really hope Penn decides to come back to the radio.

Top 10 Tips for Great Pictures

This is a pretty cool list of ways to take better pictures. I’m happy to say I’ve been using most of these techniques for quite a while now.

I’m really looking forward to adding more photos to this site. I’m hoping I can make it a regular thing, but there’s a lot of planning I need to do first. Be on the lookout for more visuals coming soon.

Origami

I started learning Origami around 4th grade. I got a little kit with a book and some paper and went nuts. I never really went beyond the basic levels, but it was pretty fun. Occasionally I find myself making something when I’m bored (like now - I’m in a class at work where so far everything has been review). This gallery is way beyond anything I’ve ever done. Enjoy.

Is This Your First Photo?

This a pretty cool idea using Google image search. Since Sony digital cameras have a default naming scheme for pictures, these results are the first pics taken for their respective cameras after their owner uploaded them to the net. It works for Canon too, although the naming scheme is different. Pretty cool.

I’ve always liked his stuff. Here’s a pretty nice compilation of Escher’s work.
